IT IS TIME! We have been waiting for this moment for years! And now that it is here, let’s talk about how to make the most of this once-in-a-lifetime experience.
Not everyone is going to get a chance to attend an actual game, so here are some ways we can experience the excitement and culture of arguably the biggest sporting event in the world.
Attend a Watch Party
There will be no shortage of watch parties in the Seattle area, with many of them claiming to be family-friendly. When thinking about finding a fun watch party for you and your preschoolers, it could be a good idea to find some that have more than just the game playing. There is a good list of family-friendly events on the Seattle’s Child website.
HappyFeet isn’t planning on missing out on the festivities! Find us at the Lynnwood library watch party on June 27th. We will be there to host a skills clinic, facilitate some games, and enjoy the energy. The watch party runs from 3-6 and will have lots of fun events, food, and snack.
Learn About the Teams
While watching the games, take the time to learn about the countries that are playing. This tournament is about more than just soccer, it’s about unifying a diverse world. Here are some fun ways to explore the world around us while watching soccer.
- Make game snacks and foods from the countries that you are watching.
- Pull out a map and find the countries that are playing and discuss how far away they live from Seattle.
- Discuss cultures and customs that are common in the countries that are playing.
Play!
Keep it simple: go play! As much fun as watching soccer can be, playing is even better. After watching the best players in the world compete, your little footballer might be motivated to get out and try the moves they have been practicing at HappyFeet. This summer provides no better time to get outside and kick a soccer ball around together.
