May's Big Idea: Curiosity

Curiosity is more than a big idea, it is an important way of thinking. Learning to be curious about the world around them helps children explore and take healthy risks in a safe environment. Our adventures and games nurture that curiosity and encourage exploration all year long.

Curiosity Leads to Active Learning

When our HappyFeeters stay curious, they stay engaged in the learning process. Curious children are able to stay engaged in the learning process. When children learn and explore on their own, they are more likely to retain that information. Our coaches facilitate this process by encouraging students to try a silly move, question why we do things the way we do, and explore new ideas.

Safe Environments Encourage Exploration

Our biggest role as coaches is to create a safe space for your children to learn and grow. We cannot encourage curiosity if the child does not feel safe enough to make mistakes. When our coaches encourage their students to ask questions, explore new skills, and make their own choices, they are creating a safe space for curiosity and growth. Our students will develop confidence in themselves as they feel safe in their own curiosity.

Curiosity Fosters Creativity

When our HappyFeeters stay curious, they stay engaged in the learning process. By allowing children to explore their environment and try out new ideas they are more likely to retain the information because they discovered it on their own. Our coaches facilitate this process by encouraging students to try a silly move, question why we do things the way we do, and explore new ideas.

How HappyFeet Classes Can Build Curiosity

The basis of our curriculum fosters an environment where children are free to question things and explore. Our adventures leave room for our students to use their imagination to make choices and lead the adventure as they want. Our coaches facilitate a learning process that encourages children to stay curious about the world around them.

We can help develop their curiosity by asking open-ended questions and allowing the child to answer in ways that make sense to them. As children learn, we can help them develop their curiosity by letting them process in the way that makes sense to them. We strive to encourage each child’s unique perspective by allowing them to guide their learning process.

Our games and adventures are great ways to explore and develop curiosity. Our students can explore new ways to play soccer, look at the world, and learn and grow.
